We recently visited Coorg Kodagu in Karnataka. Here, we had the good fortune to stay in a fabulous homestay in Kushalnagar called as the Bird of Paradise. We were given tastefully decorated, clean spacious rooms in a gorgeous mansion with well-atended lawns, bang on the bank of the graceful Cauvery river surrounded by lush coffee and beetlenut plantations.
It was a complete fun package for our kids since there was a small play area, a lovely swimming pool and a fantastic tree house to explore. Add to this, coracle rides in the nearby river. The tiny fish in a pond and two golden retrievers added to our children’s joy.
The staff was friendly, helpful and went out of the way to make our stay pleasant. Vijuji’s tasty cooking deserves a special mention. Their natural fruit syrups are excellent too! Be sure to buy a bottle or two. We would wake up at dawn to the chirp of the birds and enjoy our morning cuppa at the table in the garden. Scenic beauty and peace knew no bounds here.
Must see tourist attractions like the Dubare Elephant camp, Nisarghadhama and the Golden Monastery are also nearby.We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to the owners and the staff for making our stay so memorable.
