Sean Connerys acting skills are up there with the big boys, like Jack Nickelson and Anthony Hopkins. Sean Connery is a worldwide well-known actor and there is a reason for that. His charm and the way of developing his character are absolutely amazing. There is no accident, why he was one of the James Bonds.
In here he is playing an older gentleman, who is very proper, clever and knows more then anyone else about his business, which is high level theft. Someone has stolen a famous Rambrant painting and Catherine Zeta Jones is assigned to catch the one who did it. It is no mystery that Connery is the only one who could pull it of, but there is one little problem. She doesnt want to catch him, she wants to learn from him. She wants to pull of the biggest job, that Connery ever seen. She decides to track him down, but for one reason only, to join him.
There is a nice friendly atmosphere between Connery and Zeta Jones, until the suspense is starting to develop. We know that Catherine is working for the investigation firm, but is she the one who is going to catch Connery or does she want to get his help to pool off the job. Should Connery trust his new friend or play her. While he is teaching her how to do things, he is also pretending that he trust her, while making sure, that he is watching his back.
Great characters, great actors and very well developed plot. The year 2000 crime, not bad. Made few people think of the problem for Y2K even more. I liked it. I know it is not the most realistic and most unusual plot, but the movie made you feel good and made you like it for the reason of pure entertainment and great acting. The ending is unpredictable and very interesting. I definitely recommend this one.
