Ok, Most industries, specially advertising are using this "Indian" word to their favour. For instance, The Indian Search Engine aka Guruji.com. Now, its the famous Mozilla corporation, trying their luck with the new All Indian "Epic Browser". It is based on the Mozilla Firefox, and developed by the company - "Hidden Reflex". And it sure is a pretty nice browser!
Lets have a look @ some of the New Features introduced -
1) It is having An integrated Anti virus (From ESET), and its Free!!! The downloading time was fast, and it was easy to monitor. Runs in the background, and did a quick search! Satisfied!
2) It is having Regional and international language support, for 10 regional languages and 6 international languages. e.g. if you start typing something in a text area, you can change it into for instance "hindi" through the Epic browser, assuming, most would kill me for writing Russian on an Indian Browser! ;)
3) Indian or Desi Wallpapers and themes. The collection is pretty decent and neat.
4) Sidebar - The new sidebar, contains quick access links to frequently used sites like Facebook, Orkut, Yahoo.
It also includes utility links like an inbuilt Document Create/Edit utility. This is a very effective and useful inclusion, a personal "Wordpad".
Other utilities include a Folder Explorer, for quick access to files, a Timer/stopwatch/alerts utility, a quick access maps utility, A games utility, so on and so forth. I am just quoting a few, there are plenty more.
5) The new tabs are neat, with links to recently visited pages, a built-in google search text area, and options for changing the skins, history etc.
6) India content, the first tab in the sidebar, is full of sites, news, updates from different sites from all over the country! Pretty unique and really well thought out.
The usual features like Private browsing, etc are included by default.
Miscellaneous -
a) A dedicated clear browsing data button, good thinking there!
b) Live Tv links to NDTV channels (24x7, profit, India).
c) Collections, a new and effective tool. If you regularly open a common set of pages, you can save them as a collections using the collections link @ the top right corner below the google bar, and open them using the collections sidebar panel.
So, To sum the Pros of this browser -
All the New features, mentioned above, specially The inbuilt antivirus.
New tabs has a good easy to use feel
Same familiar keys and shortcuts, as Firefox.
Now, There has to be some loose ends. Lets see a few Cons -
1) I noticed slow sidebar reaction times once in a while, but maybe itll be fixed soon!
2) Appearance is strictly Firefox, I would have wanted some fancy styling! :)
3) The browser crashed once, while surfing images. That is quite a lot lesser though, than the number of times IE crashes for me. So, it should be fine.
Overall, It has some amazing new features to offer, and has a pretty neat concept. Check out the New All Indian Browser here - https://epicbrowser.com/
