When I was scouring the market to buy a reasonable mono laser printer, I came across Epson, though my first instinct was, where did Epson suddenly appear from. Nevertheless, I liked the non nonsense product, with powder ink, so that it would not dry up and easy to use feature and the competitive pricing made my go for it.
A big mistake, all the after sales service, with on site facility and all that was just that, a sales pitch. About few months of the warranty getting over, the printer just stopped working. Paper getting jamming and except for the scanner, nothing worked. Calling up their support they told me that the nearest service depot was very far from my residence and they refused to send someone to check on the printer despite offering money. They insisted I carry the bulky printer, hunt for their service center and deposit my printer for weeks and paying a huge sum so they can touch it and then come and pick it up was a bit too much for me.
Hence, I requested a friend, who picked up my bulky printer took it to his friends general service center at the same cost and then another bad news. The fusion(something like that) was gone, dead and had to be replaced. Spent one week, hunting for the part, not available anywhere! Within 18 months, the printer is as good as a dead donkey. Even though the printer was reasonable, it did not come cheap!
Never trust Epson company any longer, they get cheap products made in China and sell them with a huge profit margin. It is not everyone who can afford to invest in a printer every 18 months. Besides we buy printer for personal work, not offices that we can submit bills to the company.
My advice, go for that company who really has a track record for after sales support, specially after the warranty gets over. Their true colors are seen only then. Never buy an Epson again, even if its free!
