The competitive pricing and the range of features tempted me to buy the cx5500. I was satisfied at first, with the scanner working beautifuly and the printer giving me fair to good results with the prints. But the joy was not meant to last long.
The first cartridge replacement onwards I began experiencing the problems anciliary to a lot of epson printers-poor cartridge quality. Brand new cartridges, on installation, would show half-full on the status monitor. Not to mention the fact that they would dry up unnaturally quickly.
I experienced this problem with all of the 7 cartridges that I replaced. One more problem with epson cartridges is that they cannot be refilled (even at authentic refill stations like cartridge world). All in all, epsons claim of economic printing is a sham. Epson clearly needs to come up with a different catchline or a better printer. Or just a solution to problems like these. I strongly recommend that anyone buying a printer consider other printer oprions like the HP deskjet series or the canon pixma series of printers.
