I wanted to purchase a new printer after my canon printer started troubling me. On the advice of my dealer I purchased Epson T11. I am regretting my decision for the following reasons:-
1) The running cost is very high. The printer drinks ink.
2) The dealer pointed out that there are three color ink cartridges and one black one. You only need to replace the one in which the ink has finished. He forgot to tell me that if I dont change the empty cartridge the printer will not work. So even if one cartridge is empty, the printer stops working.
3) The printer has the latest technology. It cleans the head before every start. This means in plain language that every time you switch on the printer, printer will consume ink and the ink level will go down, so that you can buy the new cartridge faster.
4) I was told that a very very very small quantity of ink is used for cleaning the head. In plain English this means that your cartridge will finish within 5 -6 months, even if you don t use it. It is happening to me. I have not taken out any color print outs, but my color ink cartridge is about to finish. (all three colors).
5) The canon printer used to give me approx. 200 - 300 pages of print out, but Epson is giving me approx. 150 pages. I am already using my third black inck cartridge.
6) The printer has an option of ticking use black ink only tab. But its of no use because the printer will still use color ink. The service person told me it is for taking print out of color photograph in black & white mode, whereas the dealer told me it can be used for saving ink.
7) It has three modes of print out - Normal, Economy, Fast economy. The normal gives a very good print out. The other two print outs are so bad that you can not take photocopy of them. In my canon printer the draft mode print out was better than Normal of Epson.
8) The onsite service is good. They promptly attended my call. I also talked to Mr. Vipin Singh from Nehru Place office of Epson. Like a true salesman he promised me that their printer is very good, it gives lots of print out and he will send someone to my place to see what the problem is. Well it is still a promise.
The bottom line is that I feel cheated by buying this printer. The running cost is very high. The cost of the single cartridge is Rs. 480. The cost of the printer is Rs. 2000. I am using this printer for last 5 months. I have already used three black ink cartridges. All three color ink cartridges and third black ink cartridge are about to finish. So I need to purchase four new cartridge for the printer = nearly the cost of the new printer. You decide is it worth buying.
