To tell u that this review is not fake, my ticket ID logged with Etechies is 145753 and I had given an HCL M74 laptop for repair. My warranty had expired and I had not read the reviews before giving the laptop.
They took INR 1750 for a one time repair. I see online that different people are being charged different amounts without even checking what the problem is.
The problem was that the laptop was not switching on as some component was overheating and it shuts down immediately.
Now the repair part is standard and no rocket science. Everybody does it in the market.
The problem I faced are:
1) My laptop had 2 ram slots with 2 GB ram each. Before the power problem I could use the complete 4gb of ram and they informed me that one ram slot is not working and they returned the ram module to me. After reading the reviews I am wondering if they replaced/removed some part.
2) They also informed me that the DVD drive is faulty and it is not working properly but again I use it regularly and I have not faced any issue till date.
3) They returned the laptop a few days later without the charger. Now I have the laptop but I cant even check if it is working. When I call the customer service, they are clueless - they are checking internally but they cant even find a copy of the intake form on which the serial number of the charger is clearly stated. The customer service executive is asking me to share a scanned copy of the document with her.
In short - they are a bunch of amateurs who clearly are doing things above their pay grade. One of their departments doesnt even know what the other is doing. also the issue raised by former customers about parts missing is seriously sounding like a scam.
Thankfully on raising the issue repeatedly, they agreed that the charger is with them and now I have to wait again to get it delivered.
This is probably why we should look at the extended warranty options on purchase.
