My laptop needed a lower base body repair as the right side hinge came out loose from the base. I gave the laptop to etechies.in and the system was collected from my place at 7: 30 p.m. on 06/11/13 paying Rs. 1500/- upfront for touching my laptop.
Besides the hinge problem my laptop was working fine. Then came the calls stating that my HDD was making sounds, my touchpad was not working, etc. I told them to ignore the HDD as I am ok with it and also told them a about a button on the touchpad which activated the touchpad. They did it and never mentioned any fault about the touchpad again. I never doubted that they could be so bad. I also inquired the price of increasing the RAM and after hearing the price I told them not to go ahead with it.
A day before returning the system they called me to say they are charging me Rs. 2808/- for a refurbished lower base body and Rs. 3100/-( Rs. 2050 on flipkart or any site) for a 2GB DDR RAM . I agreed even though I didn’t remember telling them to go ahead with the RAM upgrade. The system was returned to me on the 14/11/13 at my office as they did not agree to bringing it back to my place where they picked it from at 7: 30 p.m. Clearly they will do anything to do business but when it comes to delivery they work on their own terms. The laptop booted fine when they returned it at 1.30 p.m. at my office and I ended up paying Rs. 7700/- for a base body and a 2GB RAM module. After I returned home and switched on the laptop it wouldn’t even show the BIOS screen.
I reseated the RAM and the HDD and after several trials it would boot but would crash as soon as it was shaken or moved.On 15/11/13 I wrote a feedback on their site and on 18/11/13 I was flooded with calls from various etechies personnel. Every time I had to explain my issue all over again. They sent a so called senior technician to my office on 19/11/13 who could not detect the problem and took the laptop in again saying it may be a motherboard issue.I hope they don’t cheat me any further else I will take legal and administrative action against them.
