One of my friend had recommended aquaguard RO to me & similar to PureIt ads shown on TV, the sales persons had claimed that even if there is poison dissolved in the water, the output water will be potable. Well, RO is supposed to let only water flow through it, so I accepted the claim & had gotten it installed replacing my old UV based filter. Our society in SG Palya, Bangalore is surviving totally on tankers for last 7 years, which deliver high TDS water (350 ppm) from borewells, so I thought that water will be safer now.
But I was wrong, after about one year of installation, I noticed that the taste of the water has changed, it was tasting bad. So I called up service persons of aquaguard (who are actually good), and they told that membrane is gone, and it needs to be replaced. I had expected the water to stop after the membrane is bad, rather than delivering high TDS water.
So a bad product to start with, I am not sure what TDS water is coming, and only way I can guess is by change in taste. Any case, I figured out that I am better off taking AMC so that company persons monitor water quality every quarter at least, and took AMC contract no 1020551378 but the service persons did not come automatically for service every quarter as expected - calls to aquaguard customer service helped immediately though.
Last month, the whole family went though severe gastro related infections - I thought that it is seasonal viral and we shall be fine once treated. Now yesterday again, my both the kids (aged 2 & 5) started vomiting, and I suspect that the issue might be RO filter is not removing most of the bacteria/micro-organisms. I am now considering getting a water filter which can do UV along with RO. I have read sensa reviews as well, but looks like that also does not control TDS as promised.
India needs better water purifiers which can deal with all kinds of water issues - TDS & bacteria/micro-organisms for sure & stop supplying the water if any issue is found. Alas, not many people are aware of the issues, and fall prey to fancy ad put by companies. And I have been hospitalized two weeks back & my family have had infections twice, and I am definitely looking for a better water purifier.
