The Reviva does a great job in purification, far above and beyond conventional purifiers. The taste, color and purity of water is par excellence, as it is a 6-stage process. It removes the entire spectrum of contaminents, unlike other purifiers.
However, it certainly has drawbacks as the thing is very slow, with 75% of water wasted. But the good thing is, it is totally automatic. The system shuts itself when the storage tank is full, and when there is no water, to prevent both overflow and dry running. So, it has no switches. It runs and shuts automatically as needed to keep the tank full.
The tank is about 8 liters, so it acts as a camper too! It needs regular cleaning using a solutionevery 2 weeks, that is fairly easy and the solution lasts a long time and is a disinfectant. You cannot feed hot water into it and like I said earlier, keep the switch on everytime, as it automatically shuts electricity and water intake when full.
A problem is the wasted water. It is difficult to collect as that water can flow back if raised above the level. And if you use a bucket, you will end up throwing the water every ten minutes. So, though wrong, I have to drain it directly.
The parts have to be changed every year, about Rs. 4, 000. And the cost of the system is Rs. 12, 500. A moderately expensive affair.
This product was shipped in because UV based purifiers are not effective in certain places, in which total dissolved solids level is more than 500. These reverse osmosis purifiers are good only in these areas. Otherwise, it may have a negative impact since we are used to a certain level of these substances. When they are more or less, it affects our immunity. In places of low TDS, UV is the way to go.
Overall, it is good in purification (what it is meant for) though certain limitations.
