Fun Trip

Warning : This movie contains partial nudity (and lots of naked behinds) and sexual overtones, so watch it with the right company. Euro Trip comes from the people who gave you Road Trip. If you liked Road Trip you will like Euro Trip.

Euro Trip is a typical teen-centric movie which depends mainly on situational humor. It falls in the same category as the American Pie series, so if you liked the American Pie series you will not regret shelling out your moolah for this one. This movie will keep you giggling throughout the hour and a half that it lasts. Even the opening credits are fun to watch. As with movies in this genre there is not much of a story.

The story is simple and there are little surprises, if any. The movie is primarily about the journey of four teenage friends who have just graduated; two of whom are twins (Jennifer and Jamie), third (scottie, the lead) a predictable guy while the fourth (cooper) is just strange in a cool sorta way. The movie opens with the graduation day of Hudson High, class of 2004. Scottie gets dumped by his girlfriend on his graduation day for the lead singer of some metal band. The twins plan to leave for Paris, backpacking for the summer. Scottie has plans to work for his dad for the summer while Cooper is to spend the summer doing his internship in a law firm.

During the last semester before his graduation as part of his German class Scottie has a pen-pal (Mike) in Germany with whom he develops a close relationship. On learning of his fallout with his girlfriend the pen-pal offers to come to America to comfort him and to spend some time with him. Due to Scottie?s lack of comprehensive skills of the German language he takes his pen-pal to be a gay who wants to take advantage of him. Flustered by his pen-pal?s offer Scottie shoots off a reply making it clear to his pen-pal not to come to America or to ever mail him again. After a short lesson in German from his younger sibling Scottie realizes that his pen-pal is infact a girl (Mika not Mike), who he believes is ?the one? for him.

Coming to terms with the mistake caused by his misunderstanding Scottie decides to give up his dull way of life and resolves to go to Berlin, Germany to meet his pen-pal and settle their misunderstanding. Cooper decides to join in but thanks to him they both end up in a private bar in London, very close to being beaten up by fanatic fans of Manchester United. After some dreadful singing and a night of copious drinking they wake up on a bus to Paris with their new found friends. There they hook up with the twins in Paris. They seem to have loads of fun standing in queue and winning robot fights.

The foursome decide to make their way to Germany via Europe as this would probably be their last trip together before going off to separate colleges. From Paris they take a train to Trans Sur Mer. Along the way they meet an exceptionally horny gay who likes to take advantage of teen guys under the cover of darkness as the train passes through tunnels. In Trans Sur Mer they plan to hit a nude beach only to find the beach full of naked men waiting to see some female skin.

They obviously get their butts outta there ( literally) and on a train, making their way to Amsterdam through Brussels only to encounter the exceptionally horny gay on their way. In Amsterdam while Cooper is having an intense night of BDSM, Jamie manages to get their passports and money stolen, leaving them with no choice but to hitchhike their way to Berlin. But thanks to Scottie?s sagaciousness the group finds themselves in Bratislava, which is nowhere near Berlin. Soon they realize that all the money they have is US $ 1 and 83c, which thanks to the exchange rate is enough for them to dine like the Gods and partē all night.

Their party is brought to an abrupt halt when after drinking ?Absinth?, a hallucinogenic, the twins (Jennifer and Jamie, they really are the worst twins ever) start making out with each other. Finally they do get to Berlin but Scottie?s plan of surprising Mika falls short as Scottie finds out that Mika is on a summer trip to Rome to see the Vatican after which she will be quite unreachable.

Rather than have his plan foiled by a twist of destiny Scottie decides to go to Rome and catch up with Mika at the Vatican. To facilitate their journey to Rome Jamie sells his most beloved and high priced camera to buy plane tickets. Their adventures are not quite over as we find out soon when they apparently kill the pope and Scottie helps himself to be re-elected as the new pope.

I?m not going to kill the fun so it?s for you to find out what happens next. The movie has lots of funny moments and on the whole is an experience that you will enjoy thoroughly. There is some impressive cinematography and editing. This is a movie not to be missed. So go out and have some laughs with your friends. Thankyou, luckyrocker
