Poor quality of furniture and pathetic service

Complaint number: 393024 date 18th Aug 2014 & MJ230 dated 1st Oct 2014


Sale Oder No. 1016SO/11-12/000282 date 25th Dec 2011


We purchased Safton Sofa Set(Artificial Leather/Korean Leather) by paying a discounted price of Rs. 47, 246(Original price was Rs. 62, 995) in Dec 2011 from Evok Mega homestore, Jayanagar, Bangalore.


And it was delivered on 14th Jan 2012.


Our decision to go for Evok was to get a superior quality and durable furniture as opposed to Local market where we could have gotten similar Sofa Set for 1/3rd of the price of we paid in Evok.


This decision was wrong.


Within One year, we started having issue with Metal Sofa Legs, screwed to the rubber wood frame, it used to come out often. Every time it happened, we called local carpenter and got it fixed.


It did not stop there, with in another few months, just by the time when One Year warranty got over, the Artificial Leather skin started peeling off.


It went on to the extent that the whole room was getting filled with tiny bits of Art-leather skin and this continues till date(Pictures attached).


When it became unbearable, we lodge a complaint with Evok customer care on 18th Aug 2014.  After quite a few follow up calls, Evok technician turned up on Aug 26th, Inspected and passed verdict saying “We have got similar complaints for this model of Sofa”, He also mentioned that they will go back and report their findings to Customer Care; However the Technician refused to answer any of our question.


From then - till date, we have called Evok customer care almost every alternate day and spoke to executives namely Siddarth, Kusuma, Soniya, Parvesh; These executives have their script ready to pacify customer and apologize more than necessary to bring down customer’s temper, they also make false promises and never return calls, with all these waste of our precious time, the issue remains unresolved.


All we want to understand is –




  1. Is this model faulty? If so, can we get a replacement?




  2. If not a replacement, Can Evok get the Art-Leather replaced?






With these open questions, having struggled with Poor quality of product and pathetic service of Evok, we are taking this issue to Consumer Court and to all Internet forums.


We even have thought to the extent of dumping it in front of Evok Mega homestore, Jayanagar, Bangalore, so that every other customer is aware of the quality of Evok furniture, this will be our last resort.
