Evok opened their new store in Bangalore and I went out to check it out and bought a center table and a corner table. I was told that it will take 2 weeks for them to reach me. The date given was 16th Nov. 2011. They wanted 100% payment upfront which I was a little surprised, however I still went ahead with it.
16th came and went, there was no sign of the furniture. When I called on the evening of 16th, I was told that there are legal issues at the warehouse and hence they are not able to get material out. I asked the store manager to come to the phone and he assured me "you have my word sir, you will get it on Sunday 20/11"
Sunday came and I had to call them to chk on the status of the delivery. More frustration and I was told I will get the furniture by evening. When I received the furniture I was aghast to see that the corner table that was delivered was actually a display piece with nicks and crack all around. On confronting the store manager he admitted it was the display model and that he had lied. Promised the new one will be delivered on tue.
The service person came to assemble the center table. he opened the crate and realised that the screws, nuts and bolts reqd to assemble the table were missing and he could not fit it.
So the net outcome is that I have no new furniture . Its been 20 days . I am waiting for Tuesday.
Might change my rating once I get some positive exp. But looking at the other reviews across the country on Evok I really really doubt it.
Adding more bad experiences
On Tuesday after many phone calls, the Evok fitter and delivery guy came to assemble the center table and a new corner table. Surprise surprise . the box with the corner table did not have the required screws and nuts to assemble it. This in spite of me repeatedly asking them to check. More excuses followed and more promises. I asked him to assemble at least the center table.(thankfully the fitter had bought the screws). On assembly I realised that the center table had been damaged in transit. The corner had broken off. This was when I lost it and asked them all to get out of my house.
After another hour spent on phone, the next day, at 9:30 pm they came and delivered, fixed the 2 tables.
If it takes this kind of an effort to deliver two rectangular tables, pls be very afraid if you want to spend good money on them doing up your bathroom or kitchen. Product quality is not great. Its the same as any other store. Prices are expensive and service is pathetic.
