This book is a great insight into where things typically go wrong in all big small and medium projects and has gained currency because of its heritage from one of the worlds leading execution-led corporates. However, the book probably does not capture the indian/outsourcing esssence from our point of view and fails as Friedman does.
the recognized frameworks however give you a store of insight and punch material for working strategy sessions and thought processes into a plastic form.
this is the second book in the series and is the definitive work on the greatest parable of strategy till date - Execution and would be required reading for recent mbas as it has at least has some recent references to live strategy at big companies ( which are always good examples )
A glance at the back cover will show you the recommendations for the book come from the chairmen of Dell, Exxon Mobil, J & J and Verizon and that does make the difference.
