Expedia is not competitive any more

I booked a Royal Caribbean cruise (Grandeur of the Sea) for my family on Aug. 3rd through Expedia. It supposed to be a pleasant vacation; however the booking process I have gone through Expedia ruined it.

First, I have to call back Expedia travel agents Four (4) times after the booking to correct the typo of names and genders that their agents create. Even finally when everything seems to be correct on Expedia web site, my father’s name is still wrong on Royal Caribbean’s web site. Have I not checked on their web site, we will face a big trouble when boarding!

Second, a week after I booked through Expedia, Expedia lowered its Ocean View cabin price by $100. Several of my friends who booked through Travelocity and Royal Caribbean web site got their price adjusted to the new low price. When I called Expedia, I was told that Expedia will not offer price adjust if the booking is after 48 hours. However, Travelocity and Royal Caribbean web site still offers price adjust even though the booking was done several weeks ago. My friends got much better deal for the same cabin category and more friendly service than I am!

When I filed a complaint through Expedia web site, I got a response right away saying that   “We have forwarded your message to the appropriate department for research. You will receive a response from that department shortly.” Now, almost four weeks after the email, I haven’t heard anything from Expedia.

I have always thought that Expedia value its credibility and its customer most. However, from my experience, I would not recommend Expedia to anyone and I will definitely not use it again.
