Don’t fall prey to cashback offers-they are frauds

Recently, before making my bookings for Delhi-Kathmandu flights, I checked the rates on ezeego and found that their rates are much higher than other competitors. As I was in the process of booking the tickets on the rival cleartrip.com, I happened to check a mailer from ezeego in my mailbox which claimed a cashback of Rs. 1200 on each international return ticket. Although their ticket prices were higher by Rs. 700 on each ticket, I was lured by the offer as it still meant a saving of Rs. 500 on each ticket. I was still apprehensive and checked the terms and conditions carefully. There seemed to be no catch. I had no reason to suspect their intentions as their ticket price was already quite high.


Accordingly, I proceeded to book rest of my tickets on ezeego to avail this offer. As per the terms and conditions mentioned, the cashback was to be credited in my account within 7 working days. I waited for more than two weeks and then approached them regarding my complaint. I was shocked to hear that my bookings were not eligible for cashback. The lady on the other side advised me to read the terms and conditions. I again visited their website and was stunned to find that they amended their terms and conditions to render bookings to Nepal ineligible for cashback.


Had I had any inkling of foul intentions, I would have saved a snapshot of the terms and conditions posted by them. However, it was beyond my imagination and they had laid a trap to sell their tickets at way above the prevailing rates.


I would like to caution others to take these so-called offers with a pinch of salt and do not even believe blindly in the terms and conditions as it is in their hands to change them at will. They do not make these terms and conditions part of the ticket or receipt issued by them. They are also not transparent about ticket pricing as there is difference between the receipt amount and the amount recovered.


Update: Ezeego have promised to look into the issues raised. I appreciate their step to reach out to a dissatisfied customer.
