LATEMART .COM

Give me an opportunity to write on these sites with flashy design and terrible customer service and backup support, I can write for pages but whenever I criticize any one, I would like to make my self-clear with reasons.

As far online shopping is concerned, this is what a survey said,

“28 percent of all attempts at online commerce fail, for reasons ranging from technical problems to delivery mix-ups”

I am not blaming any portal for such kind of failure, technically it does take time, and India is still way far ahead to go.

Fabmart.com is one of the failures as far as I am concerned and I have my reasons to justify for that.

Varied Categories but fewer items.

Take for e.g. in the Jewellery section, I don’t understand why don’t they have variety in Men’s section, same counts for Men’s watches also.

But they do have wide variety of cassettes and books but again, I couldn’t find some famous books.

Bad Delivery

This is were they failed miserably. I had ordered a ring for my sister and wanted to present her for her b’day and I got the ring after 1mths. What can you say about this?

Customer Service

They have very good online services, where you can chat with an agent and get things updated but the help provided is limited to some extent. But nothing to take away from it, at least they tried. The telephone customer service is good for people who live in B’lore but for customers like me who stay in Mumbai, its really painful to call all the way down to B’lore and spending the sum on a STD call.

Quality

The quality of the goods. MISERABLE. The ring, which I had ordered, was damaged within a week. There was a pearl on the ring, which got damaged, and the edge of the ring broke off. I called up the customer service both telephone and Live help, but both of them couldn’t help, as they were taking me round and round to a ring shop in Thane, who are their suppliers and to rectify it I had to pay additional sum. It was really a bad experience.

After the incidence at least, I have not tried to order things online from Fabmart but my friend did and he got the same problem.

It’s a great site, if you are staying in B’lore but for the customers outside “BIG THUMPS DOWN”

Overall, I wouldn’t advice anyone to shop on this site because; it will be really a painful experience.

ADVICE

If you want to start an e-shopping portal or for that matter want to shop online, than you need to go to Brick and Mortar Company like Shoppers Stop, who has got both virtual and real presence so that they can be quick in delivery and the quality can be checked.

Something for my Mouthshut PALS

Explains how business owners can prevent online shopping failures. Relates that a poll conducted by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) revealed that 26 percent of online purchasing attempts fail, as buyers either leave the e-store or abandon their shopping carts before completing a purchase. States that, according to the study, if a home page loads in less than 13.2 seconds or if buyers cannot find the products they are looking for within 5.8 minutes, they surf away to another site. Adds that other problems are due to an e-store either not accepting credit cards or requiring a buyer to get in touch with a customer service representative. Offers advice to business owners, including ensuring site functionality and dependability, applying customer relationship management strategies, and delivering by exceeding the customers expectations
