I can't believe people buy this stuff!!!

I live in the UK. I am Pakistani/ Afghan. I have very fair skin & been told I’m pretty. All my life I’ve been ’celebrated’ for being fair, complemented on my beauty. Apart from my mother, who doesn’t care about colour& appearance, she just loves me & my siblings regardless. But the first thing people see on me is that I’m ’white’ therefore beautiful! And in all honesty, I think it’s bludy ridiculous!!!

There are asian shops here where they sell indian groceries and I have seen Fair & Lovely and other creams in the beauty section at these stores and have always wondered what they are for, what they do. I brought one whilst taking my mum on her grocery rounds (who thought by the way, I was stupid for wanting to try this crap and demanded I put it back!) I read the packet and tried it on the back of my hand. It was like talcum powder&smelt sooooo perfumed! I just thought to myself,  ’God, do people actually use this s**t?’ & let it go.

I have lot of asian friends who are really cool, funny and absolutely brilliant people. They are what asians would call ’dark’. & I have friends who are fair and they love it and consider themselves to be wonderful, beautiful & really play on it and look down on darker girls. It’s a bit arrogant to be honest. Luckily I don’t share their mentality!

Cos I think its just so damn silly. I met a lovely girl recently who has lived most her life in India and she is really friendly and chatty. She is a toasted colour? She asked me once ’what cream do I use?’ I told her I use a normal cream available from high street shops. I asked her the same question... and guess what she said... ’Fair & Lovely!’ I just questioned her WHY???

And she said it’s because she doesn’t like her skin colour and wishes to be fairer and that in India, it’s the norm to use it. Is it REALLY the norm??? How dumb! Most the population in India is darker skinned isn’t it? So does that mean most the people in India walk around hating the skin their in?? I can’t get my head around it! Pakistan I guess is no different. In my family in the UK, about 80% of them are darker skinned and they are forever commenting on the fairer people in the family, saying they will have most success, most suitors, most demand!! What on earth?

In all honesty, those of you who are wanting to be fairer, please...  stop believing this s**t! You are very lucky to have your colour, and I myself use tanning creams to try and get a hint of healthy colour in my face otherwise I look deathly pale! & that’s NOT attractive!

My sister is darker than me. She is brainy and witty & intelligent and so so pretty with lovely features! Yet, people comment on me more JUST cos of the colour difference. I am not even that clever, am naive and have not achieved much as her in my life... but it is very unfair how she is just looked over so easily. Being fair isn’t even all that great.

You attract the ’tossers’. And guys think you are up for a ride cos you are fair, consider yourself attractive and that you’re probably as arrogant as they are and think your God’s gift!  Out of the number of guys that have liked me, some of them have never even said a word to me yet want to know me, be with me. JUST cos am fair. My guy friends don’t even look at that and like me for who I am which I much prefer...

Colour doesn’t even come into it. (Only if we are describing each other or something like that). and they equally love my ’dark’ skinned girl friends more... so NO!! Guys do not just go for white skin & if they do, why dyu want to be with them anyway? It’s shallow and thoughtless.OK, so I hardly even used the damn product, but I wanted to review it anyway!! :)
