Long live !!! Melodrama

Friends….whether we like it or not, Melodrama Rules in Indian Television. Don’t you think it’s exasperating to see:

1.Qazi putting that baby - like innocent face and asking for audience’s vote (but honestly.... who told him that he sings.....)

2.Audience voting in favor of Qazi and seeing the victory of one more “perpetually-underdog” contestant. (a la Jassi)

3.Shamit tyagi the bad boy of the lot …conniving and conspiring to get a fellow contestant out of the competition.

4.A self proclaimed bhola bhala sa Arijit being influenced by Shamit-bhaiyya.

5.Rex (T-Rex???) announcing that he never cries and crying at the drop of the hat. When he is in danger…he cries, when is declared safe…he cries, when a fellow contestant goes…he cries…….it goes on and on. He can give Kkusum and Parvati Bhabi run for their glycerine.

6.Mona (darling)’s luv for her apna Anubhav who never gives any bhav in return

7.Gurpreet trying to convince that she is a good singer…..I have never heard her singing that great so far.

8.Mandira bedi who seems to be still continuing with her KSBKBT act….she tries hard to sympathise, empathise with the contestants and with all the acting abilities of her career put together gets one line of tears in her eyes….and she deliberately doesnt wipe that out….(its difficult to get the next round of flow I guess!!!!)

9.With Ila Arun playing the grand daddy of the show and her irksome hinglish….ISHTUDENT, COMPUDITION…..

10.To top it all ..amidst all the overwhelming emotional outbursts….Manav gohil tries hard to read his lines on LG mobile phone like….a 2nd grader reciting tables.

11.and the list goes on…

Blame it on EKTA Kapoor or may be our underlying Indian Genes… we seem to love melodrama. Other wise how do you justify….. the success-ability and sustain-ability of ....

  1. Serials like KSBKBT, Kkussum, KGGK and to join the bandwagon even Jassi and Yeh meri life... has gone the same way.

  2. Movies like Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Ghum where the bandwagon of country’s best actors don’t do anything else than crying with folded hands.

Whether we like it or not ….we still seem to be watching it.

I guess with reality TV….the same old melodrama of 70s & 80s movies and 2000 TV serials ….has come of age.
