I’ve been a scotch man for 40 years. A friend recommended Famous Grouse. I’ve tried FG 12 yr. as well as Highland Park 18yr (soapy tasting). Through the years I’ve tried many of the popular scotches such as JW (Red, Black, Blue), Dewars, Pinch, Chivas, and more.
My opinion is that the entry level FG is smooth, slightly sweet and you can easily drink it w/o ice or water. No soapy after taste, no throaty after-burn It’s much better than a fine bourbon. I like a peel of lemon for a little bouquet. Every scotch drinker should give this a try.
