Its a feeling of deja vu everytime a Khan"s movie hit the theatres. This time its Shahrukh Kan"s turn to be the centre of reviews, interviews, discussions and inconclusive arguments.
Yashraj banner "Fan" is a smart reply to those who had written off SRK after an immensely forgettable "Happy NEw." and Illogical n stupid "Dilwale". At the very outset "Fan" is a statement of SRK acknowledging his super stardom presence in Bollywood .and he is going to stay here for next 20 years.
The central theme is a food for thought.is the super stardom a bye product of genuine toil and hardwork of the actor or its the fans make or mar his saleability or otherwise?
The story is a one liner. A staunch and an ardent look alike fan of SRK meets his God only to get dejected as the star ignores and abuses him to the hilt. The fan after this humiliation takes his own course to teach star a lesson. From hereon the movie is converted into a thriller. The plot does echo SRK"s old hits "Darr" and "Bazigar"
Not going into the nitty gritty of a typical review, this movie has lot to say, a lot to understand about the 50 plus superstar who still is ever dependable., blatantly proves his sustainability. Its a one man"s popcorn Matinee. The actor deftly handles his dual shadows of a super star and a razor sharp fan rather gallantly.
Off course the caper is not without flaws, some regular some profound. The post interval portion is a bit let down by some shallow scripting taking various liberties with the character of fan.A couple of long chases could have been curtailed .An unguarded superstar is a thing of the past. The audience is further cheated as there is no place for song n dance, some romantic interest and a comic corner. Further, what message the movie is putting across is abstract . And the climax of the film seems to be far fetched.
Still.inspite of visible glitches. Fan is an edge of the seat thriller proving to be a feast for SRK fans
