Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love at first sight. The girl has no sight and yet falls in love. Why? You wonder. It is not coincidence... it is destiny...
The first half of the film Fanaa is all about shayari and less than mediocre songs which are picturised badly as well.
The love story does not have a happy ending either.
The boy is fooling around while the girl wants to get all serious.
Well, if not serious, at least a night of passion.
Add to that a ruined candle light dinner with an uninspiring song with uninspired choreography.
The couple makeout nevertheless. And the twist to the tale being that the boy after sleeping with the girl realizes that he actually loves her too.
Hmmmm... isnt that how girls react in real life??
The boy whisks the girl so that they can live happily ever after. But they dont.
They decide to get married and get the girl her eyesight back but only the latter comes true.
The boy has to go on a mission but he does come back in the girls life only to realize that he has a son.
Another hindi film formula?? One night of passion leads to much-wanted pregnancy!!!
Boy again realizes that he still loves the girl and wants her back in his life.
The do the song and dance routine (fortunately or unfortunately it is in their own voices this time) and they are back together.
The boy has to finish his mission again but can he??
Well Fanaa in a nutshell is a mixed bag of emotions. You sometimes feel for the characters and at other times you just dont care.
The film is a little too long and draggy and the songs are too boring.
However, the film scores where performances are concerned. Aamir is a delight to watch on screen. Or maybe I just love him too much.
Kajol when takes the trouble to put on makeup - her acting is that much more appreciated and this film is no exception.
The cinematography (Ravi K Chandran) is brilliant. Although a scene or two reminds you of Black.
The kid actor in the second half of the film is adorable too.
Fanaa as the title suggests will die by the end of the week by negative word-of-mouth publicity.
