Not too impressive

Fanaa- what can I say about this movie. This is one of the rare movie review where I am being a cynic. My review of Fanaa is a mixed one. I don’t know where to begin. Watched this movie first day first show in Mumbai, and I was not too happy after watching it.

The storyline is excellent. Without revealing much of the plot, I can tell you that the movie is an example of the multi-faceted sides of actors Amir Khan and the ever oh-so-gorgeous Kaajol!Amir meets Kaajol, befriends her, and dumps her to continue on his mission of liberating Kashmir.

7 years later, Amir runs into Kaajol at a serene location in the mountains of Kashmir. Watch this movie if you want to learn how to mull the courage to shoot your husband who you really love.

Amir’s acting is great. It’s amazing how he can look so gruffy in the first half and a super stud in the second half. Kaajol is a complete woman and plays the role of a student, lover, mother and daughter very well. Movie is full of shairs (urdu poem-one liners) and sets the pace for an innocent romance.

Cons: Fanaa can be avoided in the first half- pre intermission. It’s slow moving with the story revolving around Amir-Kaajol romance. In my opinion the pace coulda been faster. It was tooooo linear most of the time. The whole concept of love and infatuation was exaggerated in teh first half- and the anticlimax with Kaajol shooting her husband (Amir) didn’t go too well with many women I discussed after coming out of the cinema. It’s disturbing. I hope no woman has to face such a dilemma. Your call. Won’t recommend you on a weekday. Watch it only if you have time to think about the movie post the show. Comments, criticism welcome.
