A good Movie after a long time

A Good movie after a long time. After watching lots of avoidable movies in a series..i was about to stop watching movies in theatres..after all why shld we spend on those crap movies...but this movie has again gave me some hope tht good movies are been made in india. Fanaa is a fantastic movie.

But if u r looking for a total entertainer...it might not live upto ur expectations. This is a true sensible movie frm a masala movie making industry. This film starts slowly with Kajol(a blind gal...not convincing in early stage but gets better as the movie goes on)..she goes to delhi where she meets delhi ka cool guy.. a guide who accompanys them. Aamir Khan and Kajol. What kept them apart so long? As you watch Fanaa - amid all other things that make this film super - that’s the question that singularly crops up in your mind in every frame.

If this was a jodi waiting to happen, it’s a masterstroke on director Kunal Kohli’s part to bring it alive. The chemistry explodes on the screen, emphasising what good script and direction can do to two talented actors. It simply raises Fanaa by several notches, and moulds it into one of the finest films to have emerged within the commercial Bollywood parameter in a long time.

Had Yashraj Films managed to get rid of its ’long movie’ hangover, Fanaa would have been without flaw. The almost three-hour runtime somewhat hampers the show. A bit of trimming - especially in the second half - could have helped. That apart, the film as an entertainer really leaves you with little else to complain about. Fanaa works as a romance, and also as a thriller. It kicks off as a ’boy meets (blind) girl’ love story - every Yashraj formula intact (okay, Punjab’s sarson ke khet give way to Delhi’s historic monuments as backdrop, and the trademark Yash Chopra Bhangra is done away with).

The romance between Rehan (Aamir Khan), a Delhi guide, and Zoonie (Kajol), a blind Kashmiri girl in the Capital to perform at a Republic Day function, comes alive in shayarana andaaz in the first half. This half, although hackneyed, is where Kohli seems to be more at ease.

And then around interval the script takes a wild turn to tread into an area that Yashraj Films have never ventured - pop patriotism. Ironically, this is where Kohli loses grip somewhat, before getting back into the groove for an unconventional finale.

Fanaa isn’t a path-breaking cinema - it wasn’t meant to be. The film works because it doesn’t try to do anything else but entertain, in gripping fashion. Watch Fanaa for the Aamir-Kajol team. It’s worth your ticket - and also all the popcorn you’ll munch.

Music is OKay.. Background music is really fantastic by salim sulaiman..Performances. you will not get better than those done by kajol and aamir..oh what to say about this man. Aamir ur the best as far as teh performance is concerned..direction is ok..editing is poor...hmm very poor, cinematography is ok as ditto goes to stunt scenes..dialogues are fantastic by Kumal kohli..specially watch out for those stand out shayaris ..(may be he must have got those thr emails and sms’es.

On the whole GO FOR IT..
