Dont we all want to love people we can trust? Dont we all want to be loved for who we? Fanaa is made around these two questions. Zooni and Rehan love because their lives were pre-written by God. Now, trust and love are choices that must be made by themselves.
WHY DID YOU WATCH THIS MOVIE?
I like to watch movies for the acting, the directing, camera work, music, etc. The plot and actors do not always attract me to watch the film. I watched this movie because many people asked me if I have. I had to say "not yet". And I am glad I watched it because each film is different. I wanted to watch the chemistry between Aamir and Kajol. I wanted to know what the hype was.
PLOT
The story is about making choices in life. Zooni Ali Beg (Kajol) is given this advice by her father (Rishi Kapoor). She takes this advice as she sets out to the real world, a world of danger and love which she can not visually see. She meets a flirt, a tour guide named Rehan Qadri (Aamir Khan). Her friends warn her to stay away from him, but her heart tells her something else. Rehan is fascinated by Zooni and they fall in love. One miraculous day arrives and her love has disappeared. She lives with that for the next 7 years and a choice she has to make arrives at her front steps. What is Zooni to do? How is she to cope with it?
CAST
Kajol as Zooni- As Kajols comeback, she has made a good choice. She looked beautiful and did justice to her role. Although it was not a very challenging role, because I think many talented actresses could have played Zooni, I do not have any complaints.
Aamir as Rehan- Aamir Khan once again proves he has talent and still is one of the reigning Khans. There is not much else to say about him. He was wonderful.
The little Rehan- I must say he was so adorable and I just wanted to hug him.
Tabu as Malini Tyagi- I am not very familiar with Tabu, but even her small appearance was done well. I really liked her role and she set her self as Tyagi very well.
Rishi Kapoor as Zoonis dad and Kirron Kher as Zoonis mom and Lillette Dubey, and the very short guest appearance by Lara Dutta also were all small parts which were done without any complaints.
WAS THE MOVIE ABLE TO KEEP YOU GLUED TO THE SCREEN?
I thought the movie was decent. It wasnt as good as I expected but I did not think it was horrible. The first half was a bit dragging although I understand the purpose of the first half. The purpose is for us to understand the characters and the situations coming up. However, the second half was much better and filled with suspense, action, and excitement.
Overall I though the film was decent and the never before seen "jodi" of Aamir Khan and Kajol had great teamwork although I had heard initially they both had a hard time working with each other before shooting began. I think the music could have been better although I could listen to it. They must have really wanted to use the remainder of HUM TUMs ("Yaara Yarra") beat and used it for Fanna (very noticeable in "Chanda Chamke"). My favorite song has to be "Mere hath mein". In general, the imagery, music, direction, and the acting have made the movie tolerable.
