I saw only the second half of the movie, from the time Amir recupes at Kajols place. It was gripping and intense. I couldnt take my eyes off them. Yes, they share tremendous chemistry, Kajol looked amazing and Aamir, as usual, was great(I would have hated seeing him in the first half, with that hairstyle of his. Crew cut suits him better).
The moment Kajol started the car to escape Aamir, my expectations went up high. For, I instantly could make out that this was a take off from Ken Folletts novel, Eye of the Needle. What a climax. It is palpating and quite a thriller.
So, when Kajol barred all the doors, I expected something similar. It was disheartening to see the Indian version. Oh, why couldnt Kajol have continued to be paranoic and he manic about the trigger? It would have been a fitting test for both of them, and a treat for all to watch as Aamir tries to desperately get in and Kajol to bar him. Instead, we get such a watered down version that it is appalling!
Maybe if I hadnt known this version, my feelings about the movie would have remained positive. But I definitely feel that it would have created greater waves and the movie a bigger hit - like 1947 -Earth, where Aamirs last expression was like the punch line.
