Fanaa

This Aamir Khan starred movie can be best said to be raking in mullahs amidst the controversies created by him in Gujarat.

Zuni Ali Beg (Kajol) is a blind but bubbly girl from the valley and her parents (Rishi Kapoor & Kiron Kher) are worried over her future aka finding a boy for her.

She sets off to Delhi for a dance performance at Delhi at Republic Day. She meets Rehan (Aamir), a tourist guide, who promises to show Delhi to her via “feel” as a sense. Both falls for each other. Rehan, however, makes it clear that he is flirt but for Zuni it does not matter as she has found in him a prince who has touched her life like never before. He promises to make her 12 hours a memorable one before she leaves back home. He indeed takes her to the moon and beyond and she is satisfied with her lifetime experience.

Alas! In a bomb blast in Delhi he is believed to be dead. Meanwhile we know that he is a terrorist and was on a mission in Delhi.

Seven years later he has donned uniform of Indian Army and is now on a mission to steal a nuclear trigger device, which he does steal and is on run from the Indian military. And here comes our hero (or anti-hero), lands at doorstep of our girl. He recognizes her and also realizes that he has fathered a child and wants to make a family of his own but not before he delivers the stolen trigger to his terrorist uncle who would otherwise kill his extended family. Meanwhile our girl also learns of our hero’s deeds and is now bent upon stopping the trigger from reaching the terrorists. Between love and duty, the call of duty triumphs and she kills Rehan. So much for the country!

Intelligent use of song/rhyme of “Subhan Allah” through out and splendid show on a big screen are the pluses of the movie.

All of our stars have performed up to their expectations, which is usual and nothing special. Kajol has reminded us that she has not forgotten acting. Newcomer kid artist has also performed well.

I must admire R-Adlabs (Mulund, Mumbai) for putting up 9 shows a day busting the myth that the movie is overbooked for first 2 weeks.

I shall give it 3 and a half star rating.
