When you are bored you really find things to do sometimes. So there I was, with no new albums, though there were lots, I just wasn’t interested when along came Fanaa. When I looked at the cast I was surprised to see Kajol because I had no idea her movie was out already. Right then and there I decided to download the songs. Well I got half the album when my hard drive died, literally. There goes my music and my pictures (AAAARGH!!!). I was mad because that meant re-downloading the album which I did and finally I have the whole album. So without further ado, in order of favourites , here’s my review. Music is composed by Jatin-Lalit. Incidentally this is their last album together and I suppose they wanted to do a smashing job as usual.
Dekho Na
This is my very favourite song in the album, sung by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan. When I downloaded it, it sat there in my playlist for a few days until I burned it to a CD and when I played it I fell instantly in love with it. Sonu sings with passion and true feelings and his voice is sweet as ever. Sunidhi’s voice sounds sweet and she seems pretty relaxed but I miss the sweet innocent voice of Shreya Ghoshal here who I think would have done a wonderful job as well.
phir na havaaein hongi itni be sharam, phir na dhagmang dhagmang hongi yeh kadam
That is my favourite line in this song.
Merey Haath Mein
I just love this song. It’s a slow soothing song, sung by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan.Their voices complement each other’s wonderfully and once again Sonu proves he is not just a cute, good looking guy who is no good, but he is a cute good looking guy who can turn any song he sings into pure gold! Kajol and Amir Khan are also featured in this song with some vocals.
The song is full of sadness and heartbreak which is conveyed beautifully by the two singers.
merey haath mein, tera haath ho, sari jannathey, merey saath ho
Chand Sifarish
This was my favourite song but that was before I heard Dekho Na. Now it is my third favourite song sung by my second favourite singer Shaan accompanied by Kailash Ker. Anytime I hear this song I feel like singing along. It’s a nice peppy song that’s bound to get you out of the blues and on your toes even if you’re not really in the mood for dancing.
chand sifarish jo karta hamari deta who tumko bata, sharmo hayake parde ki rake karni hai humko khata
Chanda Chamke
It’s tongue twister time. This song is the ultimate tongue twister. I wonder if there were any re-recordings of this song and if there were how many times did they have to re-record before they finally got it right? This one is done by Babul Supriyo and Mahalxmi Iyer with the tongue twisters done by Kajol and Amir Khan (who else?). This song’s fun to listen to and it’s a nice dance song.
But the first time I heard the song I felt a bit pissed because this song sounds a lot like Yaara Yaara (Hum Tum) but I soon got over that.
pake pher par paka pakita, paka pher ya paka pakita, pake pher ko pakere pinko, pinko pakere paka pakita
Don’t ask how many times I had to listen to it before I got it!
Destroyed In Love
It’s an instrumental song which combines Merey Haath Mein and Dekho Na in one beautifully enchanting song. That’s as much as I can say for this song, just beautifully enchanting.
Fanaa For You
You’ll have to see Chand Sifarish for this one because this is actually the remix or I should say the club mix of Chand Sifarish. It’s remixed by DJ Aqueel. It’s much faster and I love how this version sounds, really nice to get you dancing.
