To begin with Fashion is not as good as the earlier movies from Director Madhur Bhandarkar. But it still is a good movie, some outstanding performances and the demystification of the Fashion world contributing to it. It is a story of 3 models and their career path in the glamorous world of fashion.
The script is ok, the screenplay leaves a lot to desire and the support cast dazzles like most of the director’s earlier movies. Clear and near perfect sketch of all the main characters has been Madhur’s forte. But somehow, I believe, this time around his casting for the lead roles could have been better.
For starters, Priyanka Chopra has put in a good performance. But, a more seasoned actress would have done better justice. Kangana Ranaut is probably the silver lining of the movie. Her portrayal of a super model diva is brilliant! So much so that I thought she would’ve done better justice to the central character than Priyanka has done. Increasingly she is emerging as an actress who can give critically acclaimed performances in commercial movies. She comes through as an actress who is sincere and wants to explore different roles all the time. Mughda Godse too does justice to her role. Sameer Soni, Arbaaz Khan and Bajwa, Kittu Gidwani have turned in good performances as well.
The director has borrowed heavily from real life instances of the fashion industry do that the audiences can relate to the story line.
All in all this movie doesn’t belong to the Madhur Bhandarkar pedigree. But watch it for a sneek peek into the fashion world, some spectacular ramp shows and Kangana Rananut.
