Yesterday, I got a confirmation from the website that they have accepted my contention and reversed the value paid to my card account.
Basis this +ve development, I would like to rate them a notch higher i.e. 3. Would have rated them a full 4 if this particular instance hadnt occurred.
As I said earlier, their service team response is erratic - in an earlier instance, when I wrote to them about non-receipt of a small accessory in a watch package, they sent me a return order whereby I could return the product in full for a 100% refund, this after 15days from purchase, while in this case, the watch genuinely was defective and they tried to shirk off liability by variously stating time barred clause, which varied from 3 business days to 3 days!
The products offered are largely of a good quality; not sure on their business model and how they break even. Could be that these products/designs are passe abroad, but as far as I am concerned, I check the product content / design suitability to my needs and order. So long as those parameters are met and package contains the items as promised, I am cool.
Feel this is a standard precaution all of us have to take when we are not able to touch/feel a product before purchasing.
Cheers!

Update:
After my ultimatum and this post, FNY emailed me a return memo whereby I would have to courier back the faulty product within the next 10 days and on receipt, they would cross check it to confirm my claims after which they would reimburse me the value paid + courier charges upto Rs.150/kg - max.
This is fair and I have dispatched it thru Blue Dart couriers today.
Will update as it progresses.

Hi,
After going thru several e-commerce sites, I registered with FNY and made some good buys over the last few months. In fact, was rather keen to rate them a 5* given my experience. Should have known this was too good to last! On Nov 29th, I ordered Lancaster w/watch from the site (pre-paid) @ Rs.5299, vide order # 1130908, which was delivered on Dec 2nd along with some other order items. No issues there.
3rd & 4th was a weekend, 5th a hectic Monday and 6th again a holiday for Muharram. I checked the w/w and found something odd - the dial was off i.e. the 12 oclock marker was slightly off center, in the place where 11 oclock shouldbe. This isnt something related to design as the watch hands are in the correct placement. On Dec 7th I sent them an email and they wanted me to send a pic, which same I did. Then one of them said I needed to revert within 3 business days - I explained the above and told them that technchandru021y, 3 business days will end on Dec 8th. Today I got another mail from them citing the return period as 3 days.
The point I am making is simple - they ddo have some good brands and also, at times they do have good reverts, BUT, you need to be aware that things could turn against you any moment as has happened in this case.
They are simply shirking off their liability citing arbitrary terms/limitations, which are a classic case for Caveat Emptor.
I will not let up and will keep at it, till they either reverse or replace the product.
Furthermore, they palm off local stuff on the assumption of it being imported eg. swiss military - these products are made in Noida or some place and are fraudulently marketed as Swiss - no legal case as nowhere have they mentioned the make, but this is ambush marketing as when one trusts a particular site, they abuse our trust. Even their tag line Every brand we sell is the label it promises to be is ambigious - obviously swiss military is just that, but it definitely isnt THE Swiss Military of Switzerland.
Readers be warned. I know many of my friends and colleagues who patronise this site will disagree with my views - they mostly shop for apparel and such where there may be lesser scope for dissonance. Even I have bought over 7-8 watches untill I hit a bad patch with this one. Another trick is to opt for COD - that way, one can check the product but blatant cheating like this one is difficult to ascertain at a glance. Check the attached picture and tell me whether you can identify the defect.
Be aware and alert. All these sites are out to make money at our expense so do not get complacent.
