Thanks to the services that radio taxis sometimes offer, I always have apprehensions till the time the taxi doesn’t arrive. While my apprehensions have been proved wrong most of the times, it didn’t when I booked a Fast Track Taxi in Chennai.
I booked a Fast Track Taxi for travelling to the airport. Didn’t get any SMS confirmation with the driver no. so called up the call centre. I was assured that the taxi is on its way and was given the no. of the driver. When I called the driver, I could easily make out that I aroused him from slumber. He said he would be at my hotel in 15 minutes.
15 minutes turned to 30 and after several more calls, the driver suddenly decided that he had a tyre puncture and he couldn’t pick me up. I called up the call centre again and they seemed as undecided as their cab driver.
I finally had to hire an auto rickshaw to reach the airport. Those of you who have experienced auto rickshaws in Chennai would know how much courage it takes to handle these guys. They seem to have this instinct for smelling trouble. I think I may have paid more for the auto rickshaw ride than what I would have paid to Fast Track.
Very dejected with the experience. Since then I have booked NTL whenever I needed a taxi in Chennai.
