I was reminiscing about all that I read and borrowed as a child and figured that I would put my favourites down. Again this is my choice and they will be different from other peoples. Anyway here they are in a random growing up order.
Alice In Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass. - Lewis Carroll
My father read this to me when I was about 4. We read some very night until we had finished both. It was one of my all time favourites as a child.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar - I dont know by who
Mog the Forgetful Cat - Not sure by whom either
The Mr Men books - Roger Hargreaves
There are a large number of these small books about various Mr Men such as Mr Nosy, Mr Chatterbox, Mr Greedy and now there are Miss books too. Each one tells an adventure of one of them.
Various series - Enid Blyton
Enid Blyton has to be one of the most prolific childrens authors around. I really liked most of her books except for the Famous five. My favourites were the Adventure series, The Five find outers with Fatty, St Clares, Malory Towers, The Faraway Tree and assorted other books.
Nancy Drew Mysteries - Carolyn Keene
I think I read almost everyone there was. There was a rumour that Nancy and Ned get married in the last one and I never got to it.
Are you there God Its Me Margaret, Blubber, Deenie, Forever, Tiger Eyes, and other various titles by Judy Blume. These all deal with growing up and I really enjoyed them when I was.
The Railway Children, The Phoenix and the Carpet - E.L Nesbit
Very British books but nice to read.
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe - CS Lewis
The Three Investigators, and other short stories and collections of mystery books by Alfred Hitchcock. These books and collections introduced me to the world of the macabre which I still enjoy now.
Lastly heres one author which I wish was around when I was younger, R L Stine. Thanks to him Horror is now available to people of all ages. There are a lot of people who really like his books.
