I was browsing thru MS, reading reviews on books and suddenly saw favourite books of childhood! What nostalgia! What time we had in our childhood reading thru and exploring various authors and lands! Im sure each of us here would have similar memories of childhood. Here are a my top 3.
Enid Blyton- My all-time favourite childhood writer, in fact, I still try to get a few of his books from the library and read them. Famous five and secret seven were my introductions to adventure and mystery! I still remember the sleepless nights I had because I was too excited(and a little terrified) of the adventures to sleep! Faraway land stories I simply love! I must have read thru them atleast 10 times each- with unique names such as Mr.Whodunnit(if im not wrong) and the tube thru which then come down from the tree house! I used to dream about having a tree house like that- but, the only reason I did not build one was that I could find a tree large enough( and of course dad gave me a big lecture when I asked him about a tree house in visakhapatnam!)
Asterix and Obelix I still read these books and watch these movies! A big thanks to goscinny and Uderzo for creating these simply lovable set of characters. The gauls vs. romans plot is ever lasting and obelix is too good!
Tin Tin On reading these books, I used to think ill become the worlds best real child detective and even went around with a magnifying glass in my school bag for a few weeks! Tintin, Calculus, Captain, snowy, Thompson and Thomson. Great books, in fact, it was the first Atlas I came across- i.e. adventures in so many faraway lands that I got hooked to geography.
These are only the top 3 favourites. There were so many- when I was too little, Noddy was a favourite and then I went on chacha chaudhary, billoo, pinky, sabu etc etc. After growing up beyond Enid Blyton, Hardy boys, Nancy Drew etc became favourites, and then as I guess everyone does, sidney sheldon, jeffery archer, frederick forsyth came here to stay! Im just getting back into remembering all my childhood books! Ill keep updating this.
How I wish I could be child again so I could walk into the childrens section of the library and pick out these books without feeling embarassed!
