Deteriorating Reputation of a Famous Show

Personally I have always been a big fan of the Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi series and voraciously following its episodes ever since, but the latest installment of the show has been a major disappointment.

Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi is an Indian reality stunt game show that airs on Colors Channel on Saturday and Sunday. The show started on 2008 and has been successfully garnering public appreciation ever since, however lately, the show has deteriorated in terms of TRP.

The show which was initially hosted by the Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, was later taken over by the highly praised Golmaal director, Rohit Shetty. Both the hosts did a brilliant job in their own way. However, the latest season of Khatron Ke Khiladi which is KKK7 is being host by the Tevar actor, Arjun Kapoor.

This is a big disappointment for me. Not because I don’t like him, but Rohit and Akshay had a charm which the newcomer definitely lacks. Arjun Kapoor tries too hard to fit into the host character, trying to be funny and scary as well but fails miserably at it. This is the major de-merit of the show to have replaced such major personalities with a minor and not-so-known actor. At points, it’s annoying to watch him perform. He severely lacks the attitude required for the show, in my opinion.

Next thing is the contestant. While the earlier seasons had performers in the face of Gauhar Khan, Mughda Godse, Ranvir Shorey, etc who were major entertainers, the latest season of the show lacks any famous face which thereby makes it a forcefull watch. The contestants, though faces which are seen on daily soaps, aren’t that famous and lack the spark they are supposed to possess. It thereby feels a bore to watch them.

Finally, the tasks. I think Indian Television makers lack a proper idea. The tasks which have earlier been showcased in the show are still following with minimal modification. It is kind of monotonous to watch the show where the contestants are made to perform the same tasks which earlier contestants have performed. This lack of a new twist or a proper task makes the show a complete failure.

It would be highly appreciated if a new contestant in the form of wild card could be introduced who has a known face and some charm. This would help the show retrieve its lost fame. I have watched the first few episode and then stopped watching it. In my opinion, watching the Bear Gylls, take on the wild would be a much more judicial waste of time than watching KKK7. Not recommended.
