This is an update as on 26th April 2011 - please see the images yourself and decide what to call these guys.
This is in relation to my latest experience with Fedex International expedited delivery. I needed to send a notarized document to India from Canada, and got this request late from home.
I guess it was a wrong decision on my part not to plan ahead. Earlier I have always used Canada Post which was always reliable, however this time I wanted to use the "latest and greatest" and hence fell into Fedex.
To keep it short and simple, I would mention the timelines.
1. I prepared the package and submitted to FedEx on 16th April. I was told it would be delivered within 3-4 business days, however they would take it forward only on following Monday, the 19th. It was ok with me.
2. Please see the Exhibit A. They have shown that the package reached New Delhi on April 20, and at 5:18 pm India local time it was in Transit to destination. Notice the next line, where they have restarted the thing from Chattanooga, TN - a state in US. One aspect is clear - they did tell a lie in at least once. The customer service kept saying that package is in India, when in reality it was in US.
3. Exhibit B: These guys are showing that the package got delivered and closed the case, but in reality this has not yet reached destination. They have charged the premium for the same.
4. As on 26th April FedEx accepts that shipment has not yet reached destination, they cannot do anything about it. With due respect for the individual who is responding, I have a question for their policies and processes. Their systems are also faulty, the chat got abruptly ended when chat agent tried to transfer to India, twice. On the third occasion the chat window didnt load at all (they gave a toll-no., perhaps a European No.) where I should call in case chat window is not opening (costs on me, not to mention!)
5. Email response from FedEx - very courteous, and with zero end results. Unfortunately I am unable to attach any more pictures, I would have given the complete pictures. These guys themselves are not coordinated between US/ India, and via phone, chat and web-tracking!
I still havent got the package and dont know whether I would ever receive it or not! I am worried only because of one reason, that it contains Notarized power of attorney.
In short, worthless and over-hiked and over-priced vendor. In my humble opinion, do not fall into their marketing gimmicks, rather trust Govt. backed courier which are much cheaper and reliable.
I now realize this is foolish to go for big brand names, I guess Govt. backed couriers such as Canada Post/ Indian Postal Services are they best. Times have changed... things are not the same what they used to be maybe 10 years back.
This is my humble opinion, I would request you to decide and let me know your opinion.
Regards.
