Feet of Clay is one of Terry Pratchets best. His creativity with the charecters - the depth and versatility is commendable. ‘Feet of Clay’ involves a central character who is a gnome – a machine, without a soul that can work relentlessly. Gnomes have certain scripts in their head (they are shaped like humans, hence a head) that forces them to behave in a fashion that is extremely obedient and with unquestionable commitment. Gnomes are meant to work and this is most of their religion. As most other Terry Pratchet books, the reader meets other interesting characters – like the members of the City Watch - Carrot, Angua, Vimes and Cherry who liven up the plot considerably. You also have vampires. For the familiar Disc World reader, there is excitement in Cherry’s little pleasures – she spells her name differently, wears lipstick, earrings and even shows her knees while she wears a skirt! The familiar reader can see Cherry maturing into an urban woman.
