Femina is a publication of the Times of India group.If my memory serves me right, the current editor is Sathya Saran.It is aimed at ’’The woman of substance’’, whatever that means.My personal belief is that it is created for educated, emancipated ladies.Ladies who may be working, maybe not.But the Femina woman has a voice of her own.She has a definite opinion on the issues of the day.Though she may be interested in ’womanly’ things like beauty regimens, cookery and housekeeping, she also keeps an eye on the world round her.Keeping these things in mind the magazine publishes columns that give beauty tips, solve personal problems, decorating the house etc.But there are also write-ups on resolute, gritty women who have made it on their own in what is acknowledged to be a man’s world.There are also sections which publish pretty photos of pretty women.What is more notable is that Femina organises every year a beauty contest.Winners are sent to international pageants and have known to win pretty often.
