I test drove many cars like Swift, Ford Ikon (new), Logan, Vista etc. Finally I bought Fiat Grand Punto Diesel though I was slightly nervous about my decision. After more than 8 months & over 11000 km, I am happy that I decided to buy this car. I had been driving highly driveable cars like Suzuki Zen & Hyundai Santro for almost 9 years. Initially, I did feel driving this car a bit difficult because of diesel engine & slightly difficult gear shifts. However within 3-4 days I was driving it better than my Santro that I had been driving for 7 years.
It requires fewer shifts than most other cars, but still gear shift is an area where the car needs definite improvement. The engine is really smooth & the cabin is quieter than any other diesel car, even quieter than Linea. The car is quite heavy and that gives an added confidence in driving especially on highways. It takes the potholes and rough roads quite effectively but is not equally good on speed breakers, especially for the rear passengers. Even the basic model (Active) that I chose has power steering, front power windows, tilt steering, internally adjustable rear view mirrors, and AC vents for the rear passengers under the front seats. That makes it a great value for money. The car sure turns heads even today wherever it goes. The boot space is luxurious for any small hatchback. it can pack an enormous 30" suitcase or two 22" suitcases comfortably and some bags. This makes it suitable for a family excursion of up to 10-15 days.
In a nushell, I find this car not only the most beautiful in this category, but also the best value for the money spent. when I compare it with other premium hatchbacks like Ritz, Swift, i20, UVa, Vista etc.
