Linea - Product Update & Test Drive

The Interiors- Have a solid feel, some plastics could have been upgraded in quality. Seating is comfy, lumbar support missing. Boot comparable to the SX4 - big plus is that the rear seats fold up completely and the rear forms up as abed for 2 kids - legs go in the boot. Rear a/c vent useful - generally this feature is only present in high end sedans. Overall looks very good.

The Exteriors- The car looks solid, the designing is fashionable - and the car looks a tad expensive than the actual price. The rear is also exciting, doors open wide enough & close with a gentle thud.

The test drive-I tried the diesel top end, as I feel that the diesel would be a better buy than the petrol. (Personal thought).

The engine starts with a gentle growl and is poised at low rpm. Acceleration is not exciting enough, but I think it must be 1 of the attributes of the amj diesel engine - for extracting max fuel efficiency. The reps claim that is would return 15-16 km/lit on ac city driving & 21-22 on the highway - which seems very exciting.

At higher rpm the engine becomes a bit coarse, but once it picks up speed - it really glides. The brakes are very effective and the handling also is pretty good.

The best part is a 15000 km service interval- the co. must be damn sure of the product they are offering as this kind of service interval is present only in VW-passat/jetta in the indian scenario.

Overall I think it should be a good buy - just that Fiat and Tata sales/service tie up does not mess up.
