Hi everybody, I just bought my new Palio Stile 1.1slx. A great car to say when compared to the other in the same 1108 cc segment like Santro, Indica, Spark, Wagon R. After a fine search, I thought Palio Stile would suits my needs and simply the best car to buy. It dominates the other cars in every aspect.
Performance: A good engine capacity of 1108cc, the same engine which was lend from Premier Padmini. 57bhp with 5250rpm is good but when compared to other cars in the segment it is a bit low, since every car was offering above 60bhp, 3bhp more doesn’t matters. Torque is also a bit low compared to other cars. But the good thing is that he has given you a good suspension, Tubeless tyres, disc brake(f) and drum(r), the handling was nice because of these three things. The transmission is 5 gears; to get a mileage of 14kmph it is better to maintain a good rpm of about 3000 to 3500. There is also a reverse gear lock so that you may not accidentally apply a reverse gear when you are driving in a 4 or 5 gear. The engine is very responsive, just a pedal push the car responds well. You may heard that the car initial pickup is low, but you won’t ever feel that thing since everybody drive the car in city traffic it is nice and easy. There is no problem regarding this issue. Overall the performance was smooth and easy.
Comfort & Convenience: A good AC to chill out. Power steering for easy handling. The car has a great handling better than Santro, Indica, Spark, Wagon R. Central Locking, Power windows(f/r), every thing works electronically. What I had noticed in this car is that every thing is done by just pressing a button no manual use. That is the main reason it dominates the other cars.
Interior: My favorite beige interior with dual tone dashboard. Instrumental clusters was cool with white coloured background and green coloured odometer. Everything was done with fabrics. An extra clutch foot rest to feel comfortable. The car was spacious, but I felt that indica was more spacious than Palio Stile. But it is comfortable for 5 persons to get adjust easily. Upto 6.4ft height persons can fit in the car with some little seat adjustments. The main attraction of the car is interiors. The other cars look a bit gloomy when compared to Palio Stile, It is very bright and the fabrics are just dazzling.
Exterior: The main attraction is that the car had been modified on the platform of old Italian car Fiat 126. This Palio stile resembles that car. Well, the car has a stunning looks with Double barreled headlamps, as I said everything is done electronically with internally adjustable ORVM, rear wiper and washer. Fog lamps, body coloured bumpers and body coloured ORVM, door handles. The car is very sporty and fresh in looks, since we have seen many of marutis, santros and indicas a lot. This will be a different car with different looks.
The body built is excellent. It is made of steel. You can feel it by just knocking on the hood. You may find the car appearing to be small, but when you step into the car you can feel the spaciouness.
Well overall the car is mainly concentrated on Interiors, exteriors and mileage. The performance is good, space inside is also good. But I can’t say about the service, I have to wait for my car to complete the 2nd and 3rd servicing then we can judge about it. I hope it will also be a good one because TATA had took the incharge of it. The spare parts may get cheaper since fiat will manufacture the spares at TATA’s facility in Ranjangaon which is in maharastra.
For more information, Presently Fiat is not planning to launch any diesel variant in Palio Stile, so don’t waste your time in waiting for the diesel version, just head on for the petrol variant. Fiat is working on their other two cars Grande Punto and Linea to launch in the mid start of 2008.
