I had planned to buy a car in Nov 2010 on my birthday and was researching the market on which model to zero in and which showroom to get the best deal. By Gods Grace I was able to purchase it much quicker on April 10th 2010 and I am a proud owner of Fiat Grand Punto 1.3 Diesel Multijet version.
There are lot of things which you need to consider before buying a car. Few of them as per my knowledge are mentioned below:
1.Budget
- Model of the car
3.Parking Space
4.How many Kms will you be travelling everyday
- Finance Options. Down-payment etc.
When I first saw the advertisement of this car I wanted to see it Live and I managed to see a Red Punto in my city Secunderabad. I fell in love with it from its first look itself. Now the task was to check out all the other options in the market. As it was my first car I decided to go for a Hatch rather than a sedan.
So I started researching from the March and First took a test ride at Mody Ford Begumpet of the new Ford Figo.
About Ford Figo :
Pros:
Smooth engine ;great pick up;Nice colour options;
Competitive Price;Blue &Me.
Cons: Dint quite like the interiors ;
High on maintenence.
Need to shell out money during servicing.Spare Parts on Costlier side.
Then I went to Maruthi Showroom:
I am not so savy about Maruthi cars but heard a lot about Swift but never liked the exteriors of the car.
I had a test ride at Varun Motors Sec Bad.
Pros :
Great Pick up;
Low maintenance;
Good turning radius;
Great stability.
Cons:
Dint like the interiors & Exteriors;
The space inside the car is less. I don’t think 4 healthy people can accommodate inside the car comfortably. Had a waiting period of 2 months ( I couldn’t wait that long). From there, I went to Hyundai showroom Kun Hyundai At Khairtabad to check out the New I20: The customer service at this showroom was good and I took a long test ride of this car on Neclace raod.
Pros :
Spacious Inside ;
Basic model itself gives u two Airbags;
Nice safety features;Smooth Engine.
Spare Parts are not expensive.
Cons:
The interiors are of low quality; The body is not that tough.
At Last I landed to Concorde Motors Khairtabad to check out The Grand Fiat Punto.
The diesel variant was not available for Test ride At that time it dint matter much to me and finally I got a test ride of 1.4 petrol version.
Pros :
The car is Born Tough, U can feel it when U touch it.
The red Fiat Logo adds to its Sexy Look.
The best part is the Front Head lights.
Its a Sexy Beast I can say Tough and at the same time Sexy.
The boot space is great to keep the stuff.
I can bet on this that Fiat Punto’s paint job can be matched to that of a Merc or a BMW. The paint finish is great and evenly spread.
The Pick up is great and the car runs smooth even at low speeds in 4rth & 5th gear.
Cons:
The car does not come with mudflaps, no seat covers or floor mats. We need to shell out extra from our pocket to have them.
Overall Experience : I went for a Diesel 1.3 Multijet Engine since I drive about 50 kms to and fro to office everyday. Its giving me a mileage of 14 - 15 km with AC and the mileage will shoot upto 18 - 19 after the second service as advised by the Showroom Mechanic. I have driven the vehicle for about 5000 kms till now and I never faced any problems.
I have already got the cars first service done and its performing even better now and also traveled to Goa to and fro 1800 km trip and the car never gave any problem in fact, the ABS works really well on ghat roads. Mine is a high end Emotion Pack with Blue & me which allows me to attend calls listen to music even when m driving. My suggestion to all the readers planning to buy a Car Go for The Bold Drive You will not be dissapointed.
