Non sensical Sensibility

Frailty thy name is Love.....

Jai says My love for you is like a red red rose. Neha turns pink with a blushing visage adding charm-n-vivacity. The sea of romance is set on fire with some hip-shakin song-n-dance. And one feels like saying ’’Hey, all song and no story makes my Cola lose its zing and the popcorn taste saltless-n-dry.’’ Thankfully, some action is part of the package as well. But each time when I feel as if I wish to go Fida..... the stupidity of the whole thing leaves me strangling my sense-n-sensibility.

The lovely Neha (Kareena) is actually a ’damsel in distress’ and the Deewana boyfriend Jai (Shahid) is too eager to make her feel at ease. She needs a booty of Rs. 6 crores to get rid of a few goons (Left as a legacy by her benevolent father). The wizard boyfriend has his Aankhen all set on looting a big bank. But instead he finds a better deal in the form of a master computer hacker Vikram (Fardeen) who agrees to pay him the required amount in lieu of a favour.

Jai agrees. But what is he supposed to do! Surrender himself before the police in an internet bank robbery case. The police story is too short as it ends before it enters the court premise. Jai is on the run chased voluptuously by a deadly combo of police and the underworld don whose money had been siphoned off by Vikram.

The chase story is short as well as Jai finds out soon enough that Neha and Vikram are two lovers who had successfully conned him. He is bumped off by the police, but just about.......The story needs to be carried forward after all, and he is forced to live. He seems to have realised that revenge makes endearing than all the lovey dovey Romeo-Juliet dramebaazi.

The second half of this so called thriller is better than the first one. At least it’s gripping in parts. We are made to suffer some Bhoot like effects, insipid fighting where Jai gets terribly beaten up all the time and yet there’s no trace of a single bruise mark. A fracture, a cut.....All repaired in a day. Wow! Medicine, thy true name is Instant Cure....

The problem with Fida is an unconvincing storyline. Shahid Kapoor is simply brilliant. Infact, he is surely the next big thing after Hrithik Roshan (Wimps like Vivek Oberoi, excuse). He acts maturely, dances like a dream, the body language is smashing too. But he looks far too young to fit into the role of Kareena’s loverboy. At best he looks like a younger brother, and that’s it! Kareena and Fardeen are good, the length of the movie is 2 hours something. Great for a Hindi film, but then it could be edited by another half an hour. So how does it finally shape up? A one half movie. Naaah, not done!

The music is cool, but it definitely hampers the flow of the story. And for God’s sake, can we start having shorter songs than the ones that seem to keep going on and on. The end of the story is bizarre. Too unrealistic and yes, it isn’t entertaining either to make my coffee burn my fingers in apprehension. I have hopes from Ken Ghosh, the director, but he needs to work on something really original and fresh.

Fida, Not really.......!
