FIFA is still the best!

I wonder why this game is in the Outdoor games section. This one was supposed to be a computer game, not an outdoor game.....

INTRODUCTION

As we all know, EA had been the masters in making great games, especially the sports games. It has dominated Cricket, Football, Rugby, Madden, NBA, NFL as well as the racing field for a long time.

EA’s games have always worked in a system without some huge card as required by the games like Blood Rayne II, Deus Ex II, Spider-Man movie, Rise Of Nations etc. They had been simple, but great interesting games which keep you on the seats for log periods of time.

I have had the privilege of playing FIFA 97, FIFA 98 (which included the team India, Pakistan, Srilanka, Nepal, Bengladesh etc!), FIFA 99......until the latest FIFA 2005. On the way, I did come across some games like Euro and Pro Evolution Soccer. But they never had a chance against FIFA 2005.

This one was just magical, even with some cons which are not easily visible. Another version of FIFA I would like to remember is FIFA World Cup 2002 Korea Japan. It was the other FIFA version which kept me going, but comes to no way near FIFA 2005.

GAME PLAY

Game play seems to have got a huge boost with the addition of the FIFA point system which helps us to buy different things in the game with the points we earn whilr playing different matches.

The game got a large number of modes like Exhibition, Practice, Career, Tournament etc. I had been blocked in a career mode for a long time and hasn’t got to the end of it till now. I wonder when it will end - and I do hope that the fun won’t end there.

If you install the multiplayer addon, you will be able to play on the net also. I haven’t tried it so far because I am still not a multiplaying gamer even if I have tried some Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena online for a change. There are lots of options as usual that you can change.

The penality kicks are OK in the game and so are the corners after some practice, but taking a free kick is just ridiculous in the game. The ball always manages to go over the top. I wonder if they can make a tutorial for playing such strokes.

But as I am getting enough penalities and field goals, I am managing without it. But still there is the need to see a free kick flying into the net, just like the computer opponents do! They do convert some penalities into free kicks - I wonder why they do that.

Don’t worry, you won’t be able to knock out the goal keeper and get the red card. I have tried it, but didn’t succeed. So even if you try to lose the match, it is not easy which make the things even for you as well as the computer. The shots of both sides may hit the post and reflect in or out or may swing out or swing in unexpectedly.

EFFECTS

The graphics are excellent as we can see each player in detail just like never before. The sound tracks are great just like NFS Underground 2 from the same EA and the commentry is outstanding too. The other sound effects as well as the weather effects are good too. The audience looks lively and the match is realistic with a logo on one side - ’’EA Sports Live’’ just like we see ’’Star Sports Live’’ and ’’Ten Sports Live’’.

Even the emotions of the players are pictured well. The don’t overdo them as they usually do in the earlier versions. Everything has worked fine this time, I mean almost everything.

Right from the Football leagues to the International teams, it is one hell of an action coming to you! Be one of the world’s greatest managers in the football history ever and lead your players to victory using your mind and hands!
