On 9th Dec 2013, I got a call from some executive saying that he is calling from MASTER AND VISA company, as my name is listed withing 60 good credit card holders of hyderabad. The name of the company itself started raising some doubt in my mind, so I tried asking him where he was calling from 2 to 3 times and he said the same name but not with much clarity, I continued the conversation and simultaneously was searching the internet regarding such calls. The executive also asked me whether I have a Master or Visa credit card. Then he started with narrating 5 benefits
1). 1 Giordano Watch worth Rs. 3, 850/-
2). 2 Holiday voucher coupons across the country.
3). 2 food vouchers worth Rs. 1, 000
4). 1 complimentary health insurance voucher from ICICI Lombard for entire family.
5). 1 discount card valid for 1 year.
I was still skeptical thinking that this can’t be true, so I continued the call and then the executive said that I will be charged Rs. 6990 as service tax for the holiday vouchers in my next credit card billing cycle, and as the amount is big so I can also pay the amount in emi. Then I started asking him questions that if I don’t even avail the holiday package then how can he charge me the tax applicable on it. He started mumbling and by that time I already got a list of consumer complaints regarding such calls. So I said that please remove my name from the list of winners and I don’t want to avail any offers from them. Then the executive told me that I am thinking that they are fraud, that is why I am refusing this offer. To assure me he asked me to go to the website " http://www.finedge.in" and go to FAQs and
go to the 4th question "What free gifts will I be receiving after I sign up for the FinEdge membership?" and asked me to verify that all the 5 benefits were listed there so its not fraud. But I told him that the 4th question says if I want to signup for the finedge membership then I will be getting this, the executive got confused and said that he is not offering me any membership and I am getting it because of my credit card rating and all, so I asked him to show me the place where there was a mention of the amount 6990. This executive then called his supervisor, then the supervisor asked me to go to home page and click on purchase membership and I can see the amount mentioned there, so I again told him that it
will be charged if I purchase their membership, he said you are getting so many benefits and you are not purchasing it you will be getting it. I told him I don’t want to avail this offer of their’s and asked them to strike of my name from their list. The supervisor kept on asking why I want to cancel, I told him I don’t want to pay 6990 and then still trying to convince me for another 5 mins he finally disconnected the call.
I have seen a lot many complaints on their name listed in the consumer forum, grahakseva and mouthshut.com in the name of Finedge Advisory, PlatinumCircle, Chutti pe Chutti and Discover India.
Please be aware of such calls and never reveal your credit card numbers. This is totally my perception about the call that I got and after seeing such reviews I chose not to venture into it. To go or not to go for it totally depends on one’s individual opinion. My honest opinion in these matters is that nothing comes for free, if they are offering so many things in such a less amount then there is something fishy and asking for money before dispatching the offer can never be trusted.
