Now, let me divide this whole review into pros and cons for ease (maybe even helpful for testing your eyesight...!)
Pros This website offers a range of books. More or less like Amazon.com. It is an Indian Online Bookstore. Now, it has begun a scheme called Club One for taking membership to it. Firstandsecond.com introduced a new scheme lately, wherein one could prepay the amount for the book at any Reliance WebWorld Center and several other pre-payment options. Then, it slowly got the website repaired and the news I last heard about it was that it had got a new management.
Cons It used to offer Cash on Delivery also as a payment method, but now, it has stopped that too because of problems and cancellations in orders.
Otherwise, this bookstore offers a wide range of books (Almost anything under the sun.)
You can find subjects there, which you cant find in other local bookstores. But, the main problem is that these books are really expensive. You may get replies if you email to Customer Service, but they are not very fast. (24 hours grace time).
The customer support and services at Firstandsecond.com were good earlier. As soon as the book-store management changed, the quality of the services went down and they started cheating the customers. The earlier management was more responsive and prompt with its customers.
Now, too many people cancel their orders. They do not exchange books or refund money, but most of their books are really worth the price paid by customers. For all you know, they do not really offer second hand books!
Now, they have started swindling people out of their money by charging the credit cards, but not delivering the goods. They do not send the books ordered or requested for or simply state that the book is out of order, even if people are ready to honestly pay money or even if people have already paid money. There are similar other websites that try to swindle the people, the latest being indiaplaza.in and fabmall.com [sister concerns.]
With more negative reviews about this bookstore flowing in, this online store may not survive much longer in India.
