Wish Karo. Fish Karo.

Fishtro

While taking a stroll in Aundh, Pune on a lazy Sunday afternoon, a board caught my attention. The board had a graphic of fish and mentioned “Fishtro”. I was curious to know more about it and like a true foodie I felt it was my responsibility to try out the place and give some business to this “Fishy” restaurant.

I walked in and checked out the place. The details are given below:

The Logo design:

The logo could have been better as existing logo doesn’t do proper justice to the place and offerings.

The Decor:

I will give 3 out of 5 for interiors and decor as the furniture is just about ok. Colours used are vibrant. Internal graphic designs on walls are modern, contemporary and attractive. Decor is good enough for young crowd to hang out and chat with nice food.

Hygiene:

The place is clean and hygienic. Although is’s a fish and seafood joint, enough care has been taken to make sure the place is fly and odor free. Plates and trays are clean.

The food:

Most important thing is food. Nothing else does the job if food is not good. I would give 4 out of 5 for food. Fish was fresh, well marinated, well cooked with right proportions of spices, salt and oil. Aroma was good too.

Presentation:

The food was well garnished and looked yummy with brown grill marks. The sauces and cream were fresh and yummy.

The staff:

You can enjoy privacy without unwanted attention and “over service” by many other places. It’s a kind of self service place where you have to pay at the counter while placing the order. The staff was polite. They preferred to do just what they were supposed to do: Smile, Take money, give the food tray on your table.

Service time:

Once you place the order, you have to wait for 15 mins which is reasonable according to me.

No body was bothered to even ask for water. No body tries to sell anything to you like some other places such as “ Sir would you like to have tea or a cold drink? how about a chicken wrap. our chef is really good at it etc.”

This may hamper their business in some or the other way as many people don’t order for a particular dish until explained.

Recipes tried:

  1. Fish Burger for rs. 99/-. Its worth trying. Nice, juicy and “Chatpata”

  2. Pop Fish for rs. 55/-. The quantity is little but the pops were juicy and tasty.

  3. Crumbed Fish Fingers for rs. 75/-. Had 5 pieces. The were crisp and in spite of being fried, had very little

oil.

  1. Fish Salad for rs. 150/-. The only dish that makes you feel “ Kuch solid khaya”. The quantity was good.

Vegetables were fresh and has a big piece of fish. Tried something like this for the first time. I can eat at

least 8-10 pieces like these in a go. A must try.

They serve chicken, shrimps and veg too. The biggest dish was fish fillet which had 8 pieces for rs. 600/- ( needless to say we dint go for it ;)

Conclusion:

Go for it with lots of money as quantities are relatively smaller ( rs. 75 mein Fish woh bhi pet bhar? bacche ki jaan loge kya? ;)

Pics of dishes like burger and finger chips look big in menu card of display boards. They are smaller.

I recommend to all fish / chicken lovers.
