Quality of service & behaviour is appallling!!!

When I first visited Fitness First in the United Kingdom, I was impressed by the quality of the training apparatus, responsiveness to the customer needs & most importantly expertise of the trainers at the gym. I made my visit to Gurgaon outlet, I was equally impressed with the quality of equipment. It impressed me more than the UK fitness center as it was bigger, more spacious & state of the art facility.


I subscribed with one year contract as there was no other reasonable option to choose from. I joined in October of 2008 and remained a regular till end of January 2009. This first part of my review is for that brief period when I actually used the facilities:Cardiac section is very good and number & variety of machines is about right.


There was hardly any waiting period for any machinesOther sections of the facility were crowded most of the timesI never attended any classes as there was hardly any guidance from the staffThe personal trainer assigned to me was more interested in getting into a long-term paid contract with me rather than giving me right guidance to follow a regime. And speaking with some of my other mates in the gym, this was the expected behaviour.The VCD rental facility was quite good though collection wasn’t greatChanging area was ample and lockers were roomy. However for majority of my tenure, most of the showers never worked. So there was always a wait of at least 15 min outside shower area.


The management was highly irresponsible with respect to the accuracy of communication as this issue was supposed to get resolved every other weekI’d to come back to the UK for a short term assignment in first week of Feb 2009 and playing by the rules, I agreed to pay 20% of my monthly fee (after paying an additional month of full fee - March 2009) to freeze my account. It was all very good till last month when suddenly full amount of 3350 was charged to my CC. I called them from the UK and received the assurance that my money will be refunded as I never advised them to unfreeze my account.


I was advised to write addressing the manager Manish Prabhakar. I did write the mail on 3rd Sep explaining the situation. Since then I’ve made 4 phone calls & written three reminders without getting any success.Staff on the phone is nice and courteous and has acknowledged the receipt of e-mail. However there is still no response from the manager (its been two weeks now)I’ll still hopeful of getting a response if not refund from them and will keep this post updated.
