I have read the novel - Great Expectations during my school days and have also watched the literary masterpiece released as a Hollywood Movie in 1998. With different endings in both the english and the desi version ofThe Great Expectations, Fitoor is interesting to watch and will crave your attention till the end.
Bits and pieces of the film are picked up from the original story, while most part of the film has been re-crafted even when it comes to patriotism(Dudh mango ge toh kheer denge, kashmir maango ge toh chir denge). The film begins on a great note as Noor falls in love with Firdaus. Aditya Roy Kapoor has lived up to the character well and Katrina Kaif suprisingly has done justice to her role of the Dickens Estella. No doubt, that kamli of Dhoom 3 just fits in these kinds of roles, which is to talk with the beauty of her eyes.
Tabu is the eye grabber as she does more than just justice I would say to the role of Begum Hazrat who plots the game of love, hate and betrayal and make Firdaus and Noor play in it. Ajay Devgan adds support as he dons the hat of the escaped convict who helps Noor to convert his dream of being the biggest artists of the world into reality.
The storytelling credit goes to Abhishek Kapoor and Supratik Sen, the writers of the film for making it Indian centric and telling it to the audience in the most creative manner. Amit Trivedi deserves a thumbs up for his soulful voice for Pashmina and other songs.
Warning: You can loose the storyline of the film at any time guys, so just switch off your mobile phones and watch. One call and you could loose track of the storyline. Why? Then go and watch the film.
