It is a bit difficult to pen down just 5 great actors from Bollywood. Indian cinema has been here for such a long time and there have been great contributions from all our talented Bollywood stars or should I say actors..as we are talking about good actors and good performers.
For me, when I think of good actors, it has nothing to do with how popular the star was, but the fact that how much of that acting struck a chord in me..
Before going on to my choice of the top 5 performers, I would like to mention some names who according to me are great actors..
Guru Dutt: I always admired him, coz he was a very subtle actor..he emoted through his eyes and his expressions. His performances touched me immensely even at that young age.
Kishore Kumar: I thought and still believe he was a all rounder..great actor, comedian & singer.
Govinda: Coz I simply can’t stop smiling even in his worst of movies.
Anupam Kher: Some one I feel who is amazingly versatile..He can carry off any role, , , be it a serious one (Saaransh) or that of an utterly stupid crazy father(Dil hai ki maanta nahin, DDLJ) He makes me laugh & cry at the same time.
Naseeruddin Shah: I never liked his face , but I think he is a very natural performer.
Paresh Rawal: Another natural and versatile actor, who has surprised me with his terrific performances.
Shahrukh Khan: Everyone says his acting is repititive and he tends to go overborad. I think so, too sometimes..But I mention him here coz I feel Shahrukh has his own style and personality. He is very talented.
Now to my top 5 list
Amitabh Bacchan A great actor, with a brilliant screen presence and a striking personality. Be it comedy, action, dance or singing..This man has an aura that leaves everyone craving for more.
My favorites: Sholay, Do aur do paanch, Amar akbar anthony, Namakhalal, Coolie, Lawaris, Don, Chupke Chupke..etc
Sanjeev Kumar Boy! His performances always touched me no end! He was a brilliant performer, be it emoting or comedy..Again, he was very natural and subtle performer. I loved all his movies.
My favorites: Angoor, Seeta aur geeta, Khilona, Manchali, Aandhi, Sholay, Silsila etc etc
Kamal Hassan He has very few hindi films to his credit, but I love his versatility, his knack for trying out new ventures and experimenting with new projects and ideas. He is immensely talented.
My favorities: Ek duje ke liye, Sadma, Saagar, Apu raja, Chachi 420
Aamir Khan One actor I feel who deserves more than he already has. I admire his sincerity and hard work. It shows in his movies. He is really a very talented actor
My favorites: Rangeela, Sarfarosh, Raja hindustani, Ishq, Andaz apna apna, Lagaan
Manoj Bajpai I guess it is too soon to give him this credit..But I knew this guy would go places when I watched him act in Swabhiman(his 1st tv serial) Here’s what you call as a ’naturally gifted’ guy. His command over hindi and his soul stirring performances leave you speechless. He has loads of talent.
