Its a difficult task..Really a difficult task to pin point just 5 from a list which is filled with actresses who have done good work. I really can’t. So I think I should name 5 actresses who made the greatest impact on me with their work.
1) Shabana Azmi : The lady is intelligent, thats evident when you hear her speak and she conveyed emotions with her intelligence thats just amazing. Her list of great movies is endless, whether Arth or Mandi or Godmother, she become one with the character and delivered a performance which is still unparalleled. Even in a movie Mrityudand with the reigning Diva Madhuri, she made mincemeat of everyone around in a small but powerful role. I can’t think of anything which this talented lady cannot do.
2) Sridevi : What can I tell about this powerhouse. She has a track record of being a superstar in Tamil , Telegu and Hindi. She also did Malayalam movies and so far she has done more than 300 movies. She started acting at the age of 3 when she appeared as Lord Murugan in Tamil film. I happened to watch a Malayalam movie in which she was a kid and the movie revolved around her . Even at that age she acted so well. Besides Lamhe, Chaalbaaz, Gumraah, Judaaii etc etc.. she was wonderful in so many south Indian language movies like for e.g. Devragam .
3) Kajol : This talented actress never got sufficient roles to show her talents. I think she has the capability to do much more. But she does show spark in movies like Dushman, KKHH, Udhaar Ki zindagi etc. She is not traditionally beautiful but she s got an attitude which is very endearing. She has the ability to make you feel. God I wish she was my friend. She uses her eyes effectively. I hope she gets much better opportunities to showcase her talents.
4) Tabu : Plain Jane. I read someone say that about this actress. Yeah she is, but this girl next door has shone even in the most inane films and in the most absurd situations. Not to forget her tour de force performance in films like astitva, chandni bar, Filhaal etc. More power to her and let her continue to entertain us with her brilliant portrayals.
5) Nutan : Bandini, Sujata, tere ghar ke saamne. Need I say more. Whether a serious Bandini or singing ’’Mad maane paagal, Boy mane ladka’’ she has done all. she continued acting even after marriage and wowed everyone with her acting . As a young girl or as a mother this statuesque beauty made watching films enjoyable. Its a pleasure to watch her films even now.
Thats my list but I have to admit every famous actress have atleast 1 film where she has done something out of the ordinary. Here I have mentioned actresses who have done a lot more good work then the others.
